Every little helps

I have mentioned many times before on the Daisy & Joy instagram about my day job as an Engineer. A big part of engineering involves considering sustainability in every decision we make, the materials you choose to use and methods in which activities are carried out, whether to drive (or in some cases living in Northern Ireland fly) to a client meeting or to choose to save the carbon and have a video call instead. Given this is such a large part of my day job it was almost second nature for me to try to make as many parts of Daisy & Joy sustainable no matter how small.

(An old D&J image before we rebranded)

One of the first elements I researched when starting up Daisy & Joy was the packaging that I would use. Most prints or cards that I ordered in the past came in plastic packaging and I knew I didn’t want that. I considered just using the paper band around the middle of the print or card and envelope to hold them together but then I worried about the possibility of the products getting damaged before being received by my lovely customers. That’s when I came across the compostable clear packaging that is used for every greetings card and every print that is ordered. It may to anyone else just appear like regular plastic packing but its my first step in the sustainability direction with Daisy & Joy. Every little helps!
